You retain full rights to your book and are free to publish on any site you wish, including Amazon.
It is your choice as the author whether to sell your eBook through your own KDP account to take advantage of certain promotions and marketing opportunities. Gatekeeper Press can still sell your eBook (and print book) everywhere else.
If you choose to list your own paperback on KDP, it is best if you alert Gatekeeper Press, and your Author Manager, in advance if possible. This is to ensure that we can avoid any potential complications that may result from having to transfer a title to your own account Post-Publication, as well as fees associated with doing so.
Please note the following complications if transferring Post-Publication:
- Once published, we cannot transfer a print ISBN out of our KDP account to another KDP account. This is solely due to Amazon's policies, not ours, and is not negotiable. Due to this, any transfers post-publication will result in a new ISBN being assigned to your paperback before listing on your own KDP account.
- Amazon does not allow for a print listing to "delete" or "disappear" from their websites once it is published. This means, if we have to publish a paperback under your account under a new ISBN, the listing under the old ISBN will not be taken down at any point.
- We instead disable this listing so that no new copies may be printed.
- Any existing inventory Amazon has in-stock may be sold before disabling the order feature for new copies of this title.
- Resellers will still be able to sell used copies of the paperback through the old ISBN, rest assured these will not be newly printed copies.
- There is a $150 transfer fee Post-Publication.
