Standard Color Option
The default option for most of our color interior books is our Standard Color Option, which is printed on 70# matte paper. This is ideal in most cases. When you select a trim size with portrait or square dimensions from our Royalty and Author Copy Calculators, the calculations are based on our Standard Color Option.
Premium Color Option
Authors may opt to upgrade to our Premium Color Option. This is the highest quality color option we offer for retail orders (i.e. copies sold to customers through retail outlets like Amazon, BN.com, etc.). Premium offers more vivid colors than Standard but is still printed on the same 70# matte paper. We do not currently have the price rates for Premium listed on our site, please ask your Author Manager for more details on pricing if you are interested in upgrading.
Note, the Premium Color Option is the default color interior option for books with landscape dimensions. There is no Standard Color Option for landscape books.
Glossy Interior Option (Author Copies Only)
Our retail printers do not offer a Glossy Interior Option, but we have the ability to produce books with glossy interior pages for Author Copies. This option may increase your Author Copy cost, especially for hardcover books. If you are interested in having your books printed with glossy interior paper, please ask your Author Manager for a quote.
Ultra-Premium Option
On rare occasions, our printer may require us to upgrade books that contain high ink coverage (e.g. certain types of photography books) to an Ultra-Premium Color Option. This option produces high-quality prints similar to our Premium Color Option but uses a printing process that allows the pages to print most effectively for high ink coverage. This process increases the printing costs and the decision to upgrade is made entirely by our printer when they determine the need arises. Gatekeeper Press does not play any role in this decision. Your Author Manager will inform you as early in the process as we can if our printer requires your book to be printed as Ultra-Premium.
