Premium services include one free round of physical proofs for either or both print formats you're signed up for.
Base services do not include the cost of physical proofs. We recommend our authors receive a physical proof in the mail before publishing and printing copies but it is not required. The cost is $30 for an unbound paperback proof plus priority shipping and $45 for a hardcover proof.
If you choose to forego the proof, you are agreeing to assume responsibility for any issues that could have been uncovered by receiving the proof.
If you make changes to either your cover or interior files after receiving a proof and you'd like to review a new physical proof, all authors (Premium or Base) may purchase an additional proof at the rates listed above.
Timelines for receiving physical proofs after approving digital files:
Hardcover proofs have to first be approved by the printers, which can take 2-3 days and then they have to manufacture and bind the book before overnighting to you. In most cases, you can expect to receive the proof within 7-12 business days, but there are rare occasions where a misprint can occur that could delay this timeline.
Unbound paperback proofs are printed at a different facility. Our paperback proofs are sent unbound to help expedite the printing and shipping process to get a proof in your hands much more quickly. You can expect it within 5-7 business days.
